In 2009 the Florida Propane Gas Association (FPGA) Officers and Board of Directors moved to establish a new Propane Education Foundation of Florida (PEFF) to work in conjunction and support of the Florida Propane Education and Research Council (FPERC).  The foundation was formed to support the propane gas industry and to utilize available rebate funds collected by the National PERC on propane gas sold in the State of Florida.  The foundation's primary goal is to promote safety, education and research programs that benefit the propane gas industry and consumers.

PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM
The purpose of the Propane Education Foundation of Florida's (PEFF) 2010-2012 Safe Installation of Water Heaters Program is to encourage proper safe installations by licensed propane marketers.  A $300 rebate will be available for propane marketers who follow the guidelines and perform safe installations of new water heaters in a primary residential dwelling.  The application, proper documentation of the purchase of a new water heater and safety inspection form must be submitted before the rebate will be distributed.  Both types of propane-fueled water heaters, tank and tankless are included in this safety program.

AVAILABILITY OOF FUNDS
A. This program is funded though propane assessments already collected and held by the NPERC for Florida propane marketers. Participating marketers should contact PEFF to obtain a Purchase Order Number (PO) per sale to secure funding after the program starts July 31, 2010. P O's will expire after 60 days of request unless an extension is granted by PEFF or an application is received at PEFF.  Failure to obtain a PO may result in non-funding of a rebate application.
B. The Safe Installation of Water Heaters Program is capped at $450,000.  Rebates will be available through participating propane marketers on a first-come, first-serve basis or until funds are depleted.

ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPATION
A. The installation must take place on real residential property located within the State of Florida.
B. Eligible water heaters must be propane-fueled, either a storage-type rated at not less than 30 gallons water capacity or an instantaneous (tankless) type rated at not less than 50,000 btu-hour input.
C. No more than one rebate shall be paid per residential address.
D. All water heater installations are subject to audit by the PEFF.
